Known in the European jewelry world as a "formidable Chinese artist," Chan has spent the past fifty years using various gemstones and metals as his medium, accompanied by a spirit of love for all things in nature. He crafts poetry from the cicada, gains Zen wisdom from his verses, and pushes the boundaries of both craftsmanship and thought. Shanghai Museum's retrospective for Wallace Chan is the largest exhibition of his career, showcasing the most important works from his fifty-year journey. This exhibition not only presents his exploration of the limits of art and technology but also highlights his significant position in the international jewelry world. It embodies his relentless pursuit of self-challenge and his embrace of the future as an artist.
