Oh Good Party

It is precisely because of the support of culture, art and religion that these buildings continue to thrive and shine. In China, we believe that a sound market management mechanism can gradually establish a benign interactive relationship with artists. Only in this way can the contemporary art market grow rationally. At the same time, this is also closely related to the interests of China and even the interests of all of Asia.

The Baoku Jiangxin Art Center is located in Shanghai Tower’s 38th floor in the Lujiazui Financial District. Our first visit was on “Treasure Ingenuity, Walking with Masters-2018 Special Exhibition of Chinese Arts and Crafts” in fall 2018. We were invited by OGP honorary member, Mr. Zhou Changxing, who was a master of Chinese arts and crafts. As several of Zhou Lao ’s handed down works were displayed and sold there, it also happened to be Zhou’s 88th birthday that day. At the exhibition, we were fortunate to meet many masters and collectors on the scene.

After two years, we went again to touch these treasures, and we were radiating happiness from within.

Speaking of the Baoku Jiangxin Art Center, one must mention Mr. Ma Weidu. He is the founder, one of the collaborators and the current curator of the famous private Shanghai Guanfu Museum. The Shanghai Guanfu Museum is located downstairs (37th floor) in the Baoku Jiangxin Art Center, including the Porcelain Museum, the East and West Museum, the Gold Museum, the Statue Museum, the Prospect Exhibition Hall, the Enamel Gallery, the Half Garden, and the Olive Plaza. These places are also treasures for collectors and artists to communicate, exchange and gather.

The Guanfu Museum collected ancient art, and the Baoku Jiangxin Art Center collected contemporary art.

The Baoku Jiangxin Art Center gathers 300 top Chinese contemporary Chinese arts and crafts masters and Intangible cultural heritage inheritors ‘masterpieces. Some of the chinese arts and crafts masters include: Qin Xilin (Second session), Lin Hengyun (Third session), Ji Xigui (Forth session), Xu Chaoxing (Forth session), Yu Fuzhen (Fifth session), Lin Fei (Fifth session), Zhou Changxing (Fifth session), Wang Zhiwen (Fifth session), Li Youyu (Fifth session), Niu Kesi / Lin Hanli (Fifth session), Niangben (Sixth session), Qiu Han (Sixth session), Lin Shiyuan (Sixth session), Ren Xinghang (Seventh session), Zheng Youlin (Seventh session), Lin Dong (Seventh session), Ge Jun (Seventh session), Cheng Meihua (Seventh session), Wu Yaohui (Seventh session), etc. These numbers and value of the works collected are quite outstanding among similar collection institutions in Chinese contemporary art.

The Baoku Jiangxin Art Center is composed of a total of five functional areas, including the Jiangxin Museum, North-South Exhibition Space, 28 "Master Spaces", Zen Tea House, and Auction Hall. The art center covers many types of ceramics, jade carvings, micro-carvings, micro-books, weaving and dyeing embroidery, Thangka, glass, lacquer ware, wood carving, bamboo weaving, tooth carving, gold and silver decoration, copper furnace, purple sand, clocks, folk crafts and other major crafts. It's a comprehensive display of the inheritance and continuation of contemporary Chinese arts and crafts culture and Intangible cultural heritage art culture.

Not only that, these ingenious works of the Baoku Jiangxin Art Center are a tribute and innovation to traditional art. They use traditional craftsmanship and techniques to produce works of contemporary significance -- like a dialogue between the ancient and the modern. These artworks can better reflect the contemporary cultural connotation and artistic aesthetics. We can find the contemporary Chinese philosophy and humanistic thought, art, aesthetics, and the interest of life. Through more intuitive ways, the audience can experience zero-distance contact and experience the charm of works of masters and artists in all directions.

In addition, the Shanghai Municipal Government supported many charitable actions. The "Free to visit Baoku Jiangxin Art Center" is an outstanding initiative to promote a positive cultural and creative industry. Through more intuitive ways, the audiences can experience zero-distance contact and experience the charm of works of masters and artists at it’s peak.

Mutual benefit and sustainable development like “how to better balance business and art” has been explored OGP's collectors. China is a rapidly developing country. In recent years, the traditional real estate industry has been undergoing continuous transformation to incorporating cultural perspectives, cultural commerce and cultural undertakings. It may be one of the best ways to achieve the best of both worlds. Especially in the past three decades, the antique market has been turbulent, and a crazy hype in prices has led to those who really love collections to start doubting themselves, and also made finding treasures an extremely difficult thing. Mr. Ma Weidu once said, "If it was a few decades ago, there would be many satisfactions, and the price was not expensive, but now it's very difficult."

Indeed, the problems in the collection market are getting worse. Because the market does not have clear laws and regulations. The leader of Artist Pension Trust (APT) has introduced us to some of the specifications and measures of the identification profession, as well as data archives that can prove the origin of the artwork. All appraisal experts (licensed) must be legally responsible for the results of their appraisal, and have insurance companies and other financial institutions undertake joint guarantees which also includes the valuation of artworks. Because once collectors have insurance, the artworks can be mortgaged and other businesses, which is completely consistent with the financial nature of the stock. This is a very important double guarantee for our collectors, especially when you cannot accurately grasp the collection.

Of course there is another way to purchase your favourite collection and that is to buy directly from the masters and artists. Although this only applies to contemporary art, it's very safe, and has high value retention in future. This is the case with the Baoku Jiangxin Art Center and OGP Collectors’ Club.

The Baoku Jiangxin Art Centre’s business profit model in China is art-driven commerce -- vaults, museums, and art centres. The culture-driven real estate development model can avoid the problems of high capital investment, and low profit rate in the early stage. As far as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou are many real estate companies and institutions that drive and enhance the value of the entire project based on art and education. This is not only in China, but also in many other countries. The museum model is a typical art-driven business, which can generate profits through real estate development, property management, business development and corporate sponsorship, increasing the attractiveness of the property and forming a virtuous circle. Elevate consumer demand from ordinary shopping and entertainment is rising to the height of art and culture. By integrating the elements of culture to meet customer needs in addition to material, thus changing the commercial value of real estate in the surrounding area. For example, the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, the National Museum of China, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Vatican Museum, and the British Museum in London, UK.
