Phoebe Zhennan is a precious wood unique to China. The wood has a fragrant aroma, straight texture and fine structure, and is not easily deformed and cracked, making it an excellent wood for construction and fine furniture. Today it has been classified as a Grade II protected plant by the state.
Historically, Phoebe Zhennan was used exclusively for the architecture and furniture of royal palaces and a few temples. It has been a symbol of royal culture since ancient times and is known as the "Emperor's Wood". The surface of the wood shines golden in the sunlight, with golden threads emerging and an elegant fragrance. The most important thing is that it is the highest quality of wood, because it is a rare resource and grows very slowly.
The reason for this is that it is a monopoly of the Chinese royal family and is forbidden to be used by the people. This strict monopoly and control was recorded in the Qin Dynasty, and later dynasties kept it exclusive. The Ming and Qing dynasties were even more serious, and those who used Phoebe Zhennan without permission were punished by law.
Goldenrod is still revered by collectors even into the 21st century. For example, on June 19, 2010, a Qing Dynasty Phoebe Zhennan Wardrobe was auctioned for 3,024,000 RMB at the China Guardian Four Seasons 22nd Auction, and a 2013 auction of Phoebe Zhennan furniture used by the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty fetched 3,024,000 RMB. Zhennan furniture used by the Qianlong emperor of the Qing Dynasty fetched 61 million RMB.
Ming and Qing Dynasty furniture is the pinnacle of traditional Chinese furniture, using the most precious Phoebe Zhennan wood, using the ancient and sturdy mortise and tenon techniques, inlaid with ornate bronze components, and combining classical and modern design, many artisans provide you with world-class classical Chinese furniture.
